Hi Margaret, I have been following your threads and noticed you mentioned you have implemented the iPayRent system into your office. Our office is currently considering this as well. May I ask how well your tenants received it. My Principal is concerned that we would put the system in place and the tenants wouldnt like it or want to sign up.

Hi Ashlee
We have only just introduced the iPayRent system to the office. We had the same concerns but we thought we would give it a go anyway and see what happens. So far it has been quite well received and we are starting to sign up existing tenants and new tenants to the new system. I visualize it taking a bit of time to get everyone onto the system. Its easier to have new tenants sign up as that what you explain is your payment option (of course in QLD you have to have 2 other options as well but we just explained that this system is easier for both parties) With the existing tenants we are educating them as we go along and then encourage this system on lease renewals. I can't see why tenants wouldn't like the system as it give them the option to pay rent in whatever way they like-internet, phone banking, bpay, direct debit, cash at Australia Post. Some of these options they give us their bank details and with some they don't. I feel it is a great system where the tenant is in control of how they want to pay the rent to you and they can control what information they give out to you. They can set it up themselves or you can set it up for them. Once again the tenant is in control on how it is done. Tenants can pay rent from their own home if they feel like it so there is less running around for them The main benefit for us is that we will be able to see through the reports who has paid rent that is pending and hasn't hit our trust account yet. There will be one deposit to our trust account for the day and this will reduce bank fees. A file from iPayRent will get transfered to our trust accounting system and it will automatically receipt the payments. This will cut back on data entry time.
We see this system as a win-win payment system just some time will need to be put into it to educate tenants on how it works and some PD will be needed for the people involved in using it within the office
