| Problem with Rest Software Program! 7 replies 5 voices |

The department of Fair Trading once again came to my office on Friday last week. There were issues with my balances not carrying over correctly. The cashbook balance of previous days was not the same opening balances on the next bank rec..RED FLAG… Happy to report that these balances are ones that I cannot change and are automatically carried forward. Thank goodness that I could show that I had nothing to do with this. Funny thing is that the OFT said that the auditor should have picked it up! Wonder just how qualified the auditor is to miss this? The opening balance on the new reconcilation was more than the closing balance on the previous reconcilation..An error in my favour, the OFT said. The OFT is following up on this but at least I am in the clear and nothing inappropriate has been reported..heart finally slows! haha Has anyone else noticed any problems with Rest?? |

oh no Kassandra! ! i can imagine that your poor little heart was having some undue stress placed on it ! goodness. and as for your auditer, you need to watch them carefully. we’ve been having some dramas with ours lately, after having previous years reviewed. |

You were right Keira. I know that I am not doing anything wrong..but when you are told everything is fine by the OFT and then get a call a couple of weeks later..yipes! Any way all good. I will email the oft and find out what happened..My balances seem to total at the moment. |

So, once again the OFT calls me. Seems that REST is blaming me..nothing wrong at their end. The OFT will investigate further. At least the man from the OFT told me that he thinks that I have not done anything wrong. How wrong is it that the company supplying the software will not take ownership and fix the error. Thoughts..heart still beats a little faster while I wait for the error to be fixed.

We recently had an issue with Console Live (older version). It made a double entry when doing a journal payment to an owner resulting in an owner being paid twice for the same transaction. On contacting Console about the issue they were wonderful They logged into our computer to check things out and told us how to fix it and that we need to run the update to stop this from happening again. Software packages can have issues from time to time I presume. Console are really good to deal with and very helpful in resolving issues. Thanks Console Margaret www.dmrealty.com.au

Way back when..when the GST was on the way, we were with REST, and just 3 months out from the changes, they still could not produce the software updates required. We made the switch to Console, who already had their package up and running. Funny part was that despite our cancelling their service, we were still get getting frantic E-mails to all their customers weeks after the changeover to GST, with solutions for the failures in their cobbled together program… Very pleased with Console. |
