Hi, I was wondering if anybody else has their company set up as a local business page on facebook? If so, I would like to know if it would be socially incorrect to ‘private message’ a tenant regarding their rent or other issues when they become uncontactable? Does anybody do this already or have any thoughts? Thanks. |

Hi Pennie, We have a company facebook, & we are slowly making more & more friends. We find that our Twitter page has more success as Twitter is more accepting of viral marketing. I’m not sure about contacting someone on facebook.. I did hear of a court summons being delivered by facebook private message & this being found acceptable by a magistrate. |

We have a face but are slow to update it at times… we dont have tenants so much as landlords popping in… I heard about the summons Melanie mentions above so you would think if that is accepted its ok? |

I can’t see a problem as long as you had prior consent to contact them that way. We have form that tenants sign at sign up giving up prior consent to contact them via email or fax. Margaret www.dmrealty.com.au

We have only just started our DM Realty fan page. Whether we have gained business directly throught facebook I’m not quite sure as yet. We have received some great comments from tenants on our facebook though so that is great I think. We need to promote the fan page more and continue with it a bit longer before we can really make a judgement on how effective it is to bringing in new business. Margaret www.dmrealty.com.au

Being on Facebook doesn’t mean you will be successful with bringing in new business but using Facebook as a strategy to improve communication, share more content and knowledge, market your business and make it easier to be communicated with can aid your cause for growth with your clients. |

Agree Emily, We are using facebook as another communication tool. When a client asks us for info on a particular topic we find that info and post it onto facebook. We are also always on the lookout for info on what is happening with the real estate industry and posting that as well onto facebook. Its a way of showing out knowledge to the public. We encourage anyone who asks us a question on real estate to check us out on facebook. In time I think this should help with business growth. Facebook is an easier way of sharing heaps of infomation than our regular website and clients can interact with us if they choose to as well. Margaret www.dmrealty.com.au

Yes it is a great way to raise your community profile. We use our page to build rapport with the public and put out a professional and friendly image of our business. It can help to advertise open inspections and new listings or post open questions to begin discussions. It has been quite popular so far. |
