I am wondering if many people are attending the PM Networking breakfast November 18th at REIQ Coorparoo. I am thinking of attending this one and seeing who I can meet from here… |

Good morning Ladies It is great to see thay you are taking interest in our networking events. This particular event will be focussing on a general discussions about issues with QCAT that have been common for property managers around Queensland. It is aimed at providing some information to attendees but also for the attendees to be given an opportunity to speak up and let us know what any issues are they fact with the QCAT process. It would be great to see the both of you come along if you can and feel free to spread the word around to as many people as possible, the more the merrier! Cheers Nick |

Morning Nick, unfortunately I can’t attend as it’s on a Friday, and that is one of two days of the week that I must be in office. As QCAT is an issue near and dear to my heart as you know, will you be providing an opportunity up our way, and will REIQ provide a summary of feedback from the QCAT forums..? I urge all P.M. s to attend and have your say. We once again had a finding in QCAT this week in which the tenant had 4 F11 and 4 F12 in 6 months and was actually 4 weeks in arrears when we appeared, and were delivered a ‘payment plan’ through to January 2012. It would appear that left unchecked QCAT will continue to subvert the power of the RTRA 2008, and incidentally, restrict us as Agents from obeying our obligations under PAMDA with regard to acting in the best interests of our clients. I can just the argument when a client goes into mortgage arrears, reacts to the Agent, only to be told..“but QCAT won’t let me recover for you..” Not impressed folks, and REIQ needs our help to provide any real support. Thanking all for attending with your files and stories.. Regards Ian Morrison |

Ian I will be up your way doing this exact same session and trying to gather as much feedback as possible from members later in month. It is a Friday though which may be unfortunate for you but it is scheduled for 25 November. Session starts @ 7:00 and finishing by 9:00 so will get you back in to the office for the day! Thanks for your support and comments Ian, together lets hope as an industry we can get things a little more streamlined and on a level playing field. Enjoy your weekend! |
